Think of Jen Dziura as the cool aunt of ambitious young women online. She just gets it.
On her website, GetBullish.com*, Jen takes a holistic, systems-based approach to career management. Her refreshing career advice is less about how to fit yourself into rigid gender- and class-based professional systems, and more about how to succeed by being who you are.
“Most of us don’t want to hustle for shareholders. Hustle for your own purposes. Hustle to make the world better. Hustle to make a working world that works for women,” Jen explains. “Work needs more social justice, less ‘act like a dude’ nonsense, and more wine, or at least more joy.”

Beautiful BullCon venue
Jen’s annual gathering of amazing gentlewomen, Bullish Conference, turns three this year.
In years past, Jen has organized BullCon in Miami. This year, she’s moving the conference to New York City. While a beautiful new venue in the Big Apple is a bit of a splurge, Jen knows it’s worth it:
“I work with an audience of mostly young women. I recognize that some have jobs who will pay for conference attendance, and others will pay their own way; staying on a friend’s floor in order to make it to [this] conference,” Jen explains.
“A bigger up front investment from me means more women can come, which means a thriving business.”
Working from anywhere has its perks, but Jen felt her laptop-only workstation led to less than optimal physical health.
“I’m a naturally hunchy person,” Jen explains. “When I was a teenager I slouched and hunched like I barely even had a spine. I started lifting weights in college and developed exemplary posture, but I try to make sure I don’t revert to sitting like a sack of beans. Four years of using an 11-inch MacBook Air as my main computer was killing me!”
Part of building a brand, for Jen, is providing cool merchandise. The Get Bullish store boasts all the trappings of gentlewomanly living with the Get Bullish logo, a royal purple “Bullicorn”.
“A few of the items in our store, like our bullicorn horn earrings, have been small-batch handmade items made in conjunction with women makers,” says Jen, “but most require a sizable upfront investment.
When you’re as prolific as Jen is–managing a GRE company, running Get Bullish, and launching conferences–it helps to have an extra hand. As she put in her her post, How to Delegate and Why It’s Important Even If You Just Make Coffee: “If you are going to become a more awesome version of yourself, you will need to delegate.”
“There really are a lot of things only you can do,” Jen explains, “there are some things you should hire a specialist for and there are some things that really don’t need to be done at all.”
And once you’ve got those figured out, you can hire an assistant to do “the tasks that you irrationally hate and procrastinate on for no good reason. And that frees you up to focus on your most important work.”
