How do I set up direct deposit?

Just head over here to generate a customized form (with a voided check printed on it) to give to your employer. You can choose to deposit all of your paycheck with Simple, or just part. If you have more than one Simple account, you can specify which account you'd like your direct deposit to go to.

You can generate a direct deposit form through the app.

  1. Swipe right to pull up the navigation menu. From there, tap Account Details.
  2. Tap Direct Deposit.
  3. Choose whether you'd like to deposit all your paycheck in Simple, or just part. Heads up: only some employers can split your direct deposit between two bank accounts.
  4. Enter your employer, and tap Create Form.
  5. Select Export Form to open the iOS sharing menu. From there you can email it, print it, or copy it to other apps.

How long does it take to make the switch?

The timing for setting up direct deposit with a new account depends on your employer. It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

If you get paid before the switch is complete, your employer will usually either credit the account you previously had set up for direct deposit or give you a paper check.

When will my deposit arrive?

  1. Your direct deposit will arrive by around 8 a.m. ET (5 a.m. PT) on your payday. If you're not sure when your payday is scheduled, check the date on your pay stub.

  2. We process direct deposits Monday through Friday, so if your payday falls on the weekend, you'll see the funds Monday. And if your payday happens to fall on a Federal banking holiday, your pay will arrive the following business day.

  3. There's not a hold on direct deposits, regardless of how long your account has been open. You'll have full access to the funds as soon as the deposit has been processed.

If you're expecting a deposit, and you don't see it arrive as scheduled, we recommend checking with your employer to confirm it was sent on time and the account and routing informationthe account and routing informationthe account and routing information was entered correctly.

An increasing number of customers are being targeted by fraud scams. Before you apply, review these guidelines to help prevent you from being involved in fraudulent activity.

Do not open an account on behalf of someone else
If anyone asks you to open a Simple Account to receive funds, it is an attempt at fraud. Common fraud attempts include requesting that you open an account to receive a gift or bonus offer, obtain a job or job training, or help someone else receive funds (such as unemployment benefits).

Do not share your login or account information with anyone
Neither Simple nor any other legitimate institution will ever ask for your account information. If any third party requests your Simple Account login information, it is an attempt at fraud. Sharing your account information with another person or allowing someone else to use your account to receive funds is a violation of the Simple Deposit Account Agreement terms and conditions and can expose you to fraud.

Actions we may take if fraud is suspected

We take fraud and security very seriously at Simple, and take rapid action in the instance of suspected fraud attempts.

We may freeze and close accounts
We may freeze and close accounts if fraudulent activity is suspected, including the following circumstances:

We will report fraud attempts
We are responsible for reporting fraud attempts to authorities, including attempted unemployment fraud. There are state and federal penalties for unemployment insurance fraud (including potential fines and incarceration). If you suspect you are a victim of unemployment fraud, contact the appropriate state fraud hotline listed here.
