Making & Editing Goals

Making a Goal

  1. Sign in to your Simple account on the web.
  2. Click Goals from the top menu bar. Make goal 1
  3. Click the Add a new Goal button. Make goal 2
  4. Name your Goal.
  5. Enter the amount you'd like to save.
  6. Pick the date you'd like to complete the Goal. If your Safe-to-Spend is greater than the amount of the Goal, you can set the completion date for today; if the Goal is greater than your Safe-to-Spend (or you’d simply prefer to save over time), select a date in the future to save over time.
  7. Confirm your Goal.

If you chose to save over time, money will be incrementally moved from your Safe-to-Spend to the Goal, a little each day, or based on a custom funding schedule (more on that below.)

Funding Schedules

Funding schedules let you customize when funds are added to a save-over-time Goal. Before you make a new Goal to save over time, you can set up a funding schedule to decide exactly when transfers to the Goal take place.

  1. Click the Funding schedules button on the right side of the Goals screen.
  2. Click the blue button that says + Add a funding schedule.
  3. Choose the timing and a nickname for the funding schedule you're creating.
  4. Click Next.
  5. That's it! The next time you create a save-over-time Goal, you can choose the timing of transfers into that Goal.

If you want to delete a funding schedule start by clicking on it, then click the red Delete button.

Editing a Goal

From the web, you can change the name or Goal color, or add a memo or photo.

If it's a completed Goal, you can save more over time; if it's an in-progress Goal, you can change the target amount and date.

Editing is a bit more limited for Emergency Funds - you can change the target amount and completion date, and add a photo.

To make changes, navigate to the Goals tab and click on your Emergency Fund, or the Goal you'd like to edit. From there, tap "Edit Goal" to make changes as needed.
