What is Instant?

It's a way to send money instantly to other Simple customers, fee-free. You can share expenses with a partner, pay a roommate, or settle up short-term loans with friends.

Instant can only be used to send money (not request it) and it only works between Simple accounts. If you need to send money to someone who isn't a Simple customer, check out these third party payment services.

How do I start?

  1. Click the Payments & Transfers button.
  2. Select Instant.
  3. Tap + in the upper right corner to add an Instant contact.
  4. Enter the email address and phone number on file for your contact's Simple account.
  5. Once we've verified that the information is correct, hit that Send Request button.
  6. Wait for them to accept your request, and then you'll be ready to transfer!

  3. Tap Instant Transfer.
  4. Tap Add in the upper right corner to add an Instant contact.

  7. Wait for that person to accept your request. Once they accept you'll be able to transfer!

  2. Swipe right to bring up the menu.
  3. Tap Payments & Transfers.
  4. Tap Instant Transfer.
  5. Add an Instant contact by tapping + in the bottom right corner.
  6. Enter the email address and phone number on file for your contact's Simple account.
  7. Once we’ve verified that the information is correct, tap Send.
  8. Wait for that person to accept your request. Once they accept you'll be able to transfer!

Confirming a contact request

  • When someone sends you a contact request, you'll get an email notification.
  • The next time you sign into your account, you'll see a banner notifying you that someone would like to add you as a contact.
  • Click on the banner and choose to confirm or ignore the request.
  • If you ignore, nothing happens (the request will be deleted, and the sender will not be notified).
  • If you confirm, an authorization code will be sent to your phone. This code is good for just 5 minutes (maximum security!) but you can request a new one if the original code expires.
  • Once you've entered the code, you'll be connected.
  • When someone sends you a contact request, you'll get an email and a push notification.

Sending money

  1. Hit the Payments & Transfers button.
  2. Pick the lucky recipient from your contact list, and enter the amount of money you’d like to send.
  3. Press send, and the money will instantly leave your account and appear in theirs. But first, double check the amount! There’s no undo (because otherwise, it wouldn’t be instant.)

  4. You'll have the option to add a quick memo that will be sent along with the transfer.
  5. The money will instantly leave your account and appear in theirs.

Limits

  • There's no limit on the number of transfers—just on the total sum of outgoing transfers.
  • There's a minimum limit of $1 per transfer.

Can I send an Instant transfer from my Shared account?

Shared accounts don't have Instant transfers. However, you can instantly move money to or from your Shared account to your individual one. From the Payments & Transfers menu, select Shared Accounts Transfer. There aren't any limits on these.
