Should I run my card as credit or debit?
When a merchant asks 'debit or credit?' you may choose either. Our cards can be run on both networks. The only difference is that 'debit' requires a PIN and it finalizes very quickly, and 'credit' doesn't require a PIN and may remain pending for several days.
Your Simple Visa® Debit card
Despite its ability to be run either way, your Simple card is a debit card and it does not allow overdrafts. Any transaction that exceeds your available balance will be automatically declined. You won’t be charged interest, and we don’t check your credit when you’re applying for a Simple account.
A note on prepaid cards
Over the past few years, more and more people are starting to rely on prepaid debit cards. These cards can be used a lot like other debit cards.
One key difference between the two types of cards is that non-prepaid debit cards (like your Simple card) are linked to a bank account. You can find a few more details on the differences between prepaid and bank account debit cards on the Ask CFBP website.
